About Carmen
Carmen Barrett, CPA, MST, is a Senior Tax Manager and co-leads the ASL Real Estate Group. She has over 23 years of public accounting experience with a practice focus on real estate partnerships and high-net-worth individuals (owners and executives) providing tax-planning solutions and compliance services. Additionally, she is knowledgeable in trust, estate, and gift planning. Her experience includes partnership mergers, allocation issues due to 704(c) built-in-gain and partnership minimum gain, basis and capital reconstruction for residential and commercial real estate entities and closely-held family structures.
Carmen advises individuals and business entities on a wide range of issues (simple to complex) through various consulting and special projects. She is also experienced in REITs, manufacturing and professional services. She is passionate about teaching and mentoring staff at all levels to hone their technical and interpersonal skills.
Carmen has a Bachelor of Arts degree, Accounting, from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado and a Master of Science in Taxation from San Jose State University.
In her free time, you can find Carmen stand-up paddle boarding, doing yoga, or traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
