New to the country and a first-generation immigrant, I joined ASL as a brand-new staff accountant 18 years ago with no experience in US taxes but a lot of experience overseas in accounting. Initially, I worked in both the audit and tax department. All of the training I received was practical and on the job. I had fabulous coaches, mentors, managers and peers who were patient, kind and understanding as I learnt the ropes. Eventually I made the switch to focusing exclusively on taxes. I had the flexibility to not only work with great clients, but also to spend time with my family & pursue my hobbies.
As a tax partner, my journey has been filled with challenges, opportunities, and, most importantly, growth. When I first joined ASL, I never imagined that I would one day be in the position I am today. But with the encouragement and coaching that I received, I built up my confidence, stepped outside my comfort zone and worked my way up the ranks to become a partner in 2023. It has been a journey of dedication, hard work, and continuous learning.
