Partner Retirement Announcement for Franceen Borrillo, CPA
We would like to formally announce the retirement of Franceen Borrillo, CPA, Principal, Tax & Advisory.
Franceen Borrillo has over 30 years of experience working for and partnering with her clients at ASL to assist them with meeting business and family goals. Her experience has largely focused on working with closely held businesses, their owners, and their families. She has had the opportunity to not only work with and witness her clients’ success stories but also assist in educating and collaborating with multigenerational business owners and their families, helping them navigate the transition from first-generation to second-generation and, in some cases, third-generation.
Franceen was a founding member of the ASL Real Estate Group and its initial leader and partner-in-charge until deciding to retire. Franceen has extensive experience analyzing complex real estate, partnership, and LLC issues and transactions which allowed her to provide training, resources, and consulting to ASL team members and clients. Her expertise includes reviewing partnership agreements including working through allocations, mergers and acquisitions, sales and exchanges, basis and at-risk computations, strategic planning, and working closely with real estate owners and developer clients in both residential and commercial real estate, to achieve optimal real estate and partnership tax strategies.
In addition to her focus in real estate, partnerships, and LLCs, Franceen has significant knowledge of all types of pass-through entities, trusts and estates, and high-net-worth individuals. Industries that she has particular expertise in include recreation and amusement parks, start-up businesses, services, and manufacturing.
Franceen collaborates with her clients to develop well-thought-out plans and varying and strategic tax-saving strategies. Her clients appreciate her breadth of experience with a variety of transactions, her quest for knowledge to provide the best answers for them, and her ongoing suggestions for creative solutions. Franceen’s clients appreciate that she is their advocate and doesn’t just seek an answer but rather digs deep to come up with the “right” answer. Franceen’s clients trust her and know that she cares about them and their families.
During her years at ASL, Franceen has been in a variety of leadership roles in addition to her role in the Real Estate Group. Some of her key roles included serving on the Firm’s Executive Committee, on-campus recruiting, teaching technical and non-technical topics both within and outside the Firm, co-leading and facilitating the mentor program, and mentoring and coaching many of the firm’s existing leaders and partners.
Franceen was born, raised, and spent her entire working career in Silicon Valley. Prior to joining ASL, Franceen worked in industry including high tech, real estate, and venture capital. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Santa Clara University as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with accounting concentration from San Jose State University. She also completed Master’s in Taxation coursework from both Golden Gate University and San Jose State.
Franceen is actively involved with the community as a volunteer and advocate for the Second Harvest Food Bank of Silicon Valley, Canine Companions for Independence, and Catholic Charities of Silicon Valley.
Outside the office, Franceen enjoys attending concerts and sporting events with family and friends. In retirement, Franceen plans to spend more time with her family and friends, travel, write (a book), volunteer, teach, and seek out more opportunities to grow in this new chapter for her.
