About Bill
Bill Dempsey, CPA, is a Tax Principal with more than 25 years of experience providing tax planning and advisory services to closely held businesses and their owners. His background spans public accounting and private industry, including experience with a Fortune 500 financial services company and as controller of a high-tech startup.
Bill has specialized experience in construction tax planning and ESOP tax consulting. He advises general contractors, subcontractors, other construction companies, ESOP-owned businesses and companies evaluating employee ownership strategies. His services include federal and state income tax planning, entity structuring, business succession and ownership planning and individual tax planning for business owners.
In addition to construction and employee stock ownership plans, Bill serves clients in real estate, manufacturing and distribution, health care, financial services, technology and other privately held industries. He helps businesses and their owners mitigate tax liabilities through practical, forward-looking strategies, navigate changes in federal and state tax law and align tax planning with their long-term business and personal objectives. Bill also represents clients before the IRS and state taxing authorities.
Prior to joining ASL, Bill and his wife, Amy, merged their boutique tax practice with a Top 10 public accounting firm.
Bill received his Bachelor of Science degree, Business Administration (Finance concentration), from the University of San Francisco.
Outside the office, Bill enjoys golfing, traveling, cooking and spending time with his wife Amy, son Colin and daughter Lauren.
